HiBid Seller Fees: What HiBid Charges Auctioneers

HiBid's pricing confuses people because HiBid isn't a marketplace you pay to list on — it's the bidding portal of the Auction Flex software family. So "what HiBid charges" is really two bills: a software subscription and per-auction platform fees. Here is each one, then a worked example of what a real sale costs — including the line item most sellers never price.

Rates below are Auction Flex's published figures as of mid-2026. They set them, not us — confirm current pricing with Auction Flex before you budget.

1. The software subscription

  • Auction Flex 360 (web) — from about $95/month for a solo user to about $295/month for unlimited users
  • Auction Flex classic (desktop) — about $85/month per workstation

This is the fixed cost of being a HiBid seller at all. It does not scale with how much you sell.

2. The per-auction platform fees

  • 2% of hammer prices on the auction
  • A per-unique-bid fee, capped per auction
  • Extras billed separately — webcast setup, listing-only postings, and real estate event fees

Critically, HiBid does not take a percentage of your seller commission. Your commission stays yours; the platform bills software and auction fees instead. That is a better deal than it first sounds, and it is the main reason auction companies tolerate the software subscription.

3. A worked example: a 500-lot sale at $25,000 hammer

Against a 15% buyer's premium, the platform fees are covered roughly six times over. The number that should worry you is the last row: on this sale, writing the catalog costs as much as or more than everything HiBid charges you — and unlike the fees, it recurs in full every single sale and it is entirely yours to control.

That is the honest answer to "is HiBid expensive." The fees are not the problem. The typing is.

4. Where the labor cost actually goes

Cataloging is the part of a HiBid sale that scales linearly with lot count: photograph the item, write a title, write a description, pick a category, set taxable and shippable flags, assign a lot number, repeat. Auctioneers using AI-drafted descriptions typically finish 2–5× faster than manual entry — one Lot Lingo customer reduced cataloging a full home from five days to one.

Lot Lingo is $200/month flat with no per-lot and no per-seat fees, so on the 500-lot example above it costs less than the labor it replaces on a single sale. The workflow, end to end, is in how to catalog a HiBid auction and the Auction Flex import guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does HiBid charge auctioneers?
Two layers. Software: Auction Flex 360 runs about $95/month for a solo user up to about $295/month for unlimited users, and the classic desktop Auction Flex is about $85/month per workstation. Platform: 2% of hammer prices per auction, plus a per-unique-bid fee that is capped per auction. Webcast setup, listing-only postings, and real estate events are billed separately. Does HiBid take a cut of my seller commission?
No. HiBid charges software subscription and per-auction platform fees rather than a percentage of your commission, so your seller commission stays yours. This is a meaningful difference from marketplaces that take a share of the sale.
Do HiBid fees come out of my pocket or the buyer’s?
In practice most sellers charge bidders a buyer’s premium — commonly 10–18% — which typically covers platform fees several times over. The fees are a real line item but rarely the deciding cost of running a sale.
What actually costs the most when running a HiBid auction?
Cataloging labor, not platform fees. A 500-lot sale typed by hand at 3–5 minutes per lot is roughly 25–40 hours of work. At $20/hour that is $500–$830 per sale — more than the 2% platform fee on a $25,000 sale. Labor is also the cost you can compress, which is why cataloging tooling pays back faster than fee shopping.
Is there a free trial before I pay anything?
Auction Flex offers a 30-day free trial, with online bidding activated through their sales team. Lot Lingo, which handles the cataloging side and exports into Auction Flex, has its own 14-day free trial at $200/month flat afterwards.
