The Rules in Wisconsin
Wisconsin registers auctioneers through the Department of Safety and Professional Services and the Auctioneer Board under chapter 480 of the Wisconsin Statutes. The regime was not repealed — it remains in force through 2025 Act 247 — and its exemption list contains no internet carve-out.
Section 480.14(1) requires a written contract with each consignor, with records kept two years under section 480.18. The default settlement rule in section 480.14(3) is payment to the seller within 30 days unless the contract says otherwise, and proceeds sit in a trust account under section 480.16. Wisconsin imposes a bond only as a disciplinary condition, not as a baseline requirement.
